I am a daughter, a sister, a scientist, a teacher, and a friend. I am a Pilates addict and a driver’s seat rock star. I have flashes of brilliance in the shower and ponder the big questions with my feet beating the pavement and the sun on my face until somewhere around mile 2, where everything suddenly seems at peace. I laugh, smile, and cry, sometimes all in one day. I share my passion for science with my students at FDR High School in Hyde Park and have been using writing as an integral part of my content instruction since my introduction to the writing project in 2010.
I am happy to be back for my third HVWP Summer Institute and looking forward to the exploration of our teaching that lies ahead. The talented and passionate people in the writing project inspire and challenge me to see where I can take my teaching. Though continually surprised by the writing I produce, I am also looking forward to the time and opportunity to create.
