Odell’s TIW

Scrapbooking to Enhance Student Learning

Reflection:

Thank you all for your feedback and letters of appreciation. I’d also like to extend my gratitude for the work through which you endeavored, in making the TIW successful.

In relation to my classroom practice, and the workshop itself, you’ve given me much to think about, and I’m taking away many gems.

~       having participants focus on one piece of writing

~       participant discussions during research

~       more time to discuss student work

~       mentor text to analyze technique

~       classroom photos to capture the process

~       primary source documents

~       direct quotations

~       exemplars and non-exemplars

~       autobiographical scrapbooks

Your input demonstrates the countless possibilities within this activity, which can be implemented across the grade levels and content areas, and I’d be excited to see how some of you would use this in your classrooms.

This practice of inquiry, in a supportive environment, continues to be a vital element in my journey as an educator and lifelong learner. Again, many thanks.
